Orchestrated thoughts for polaroid

In an effort to build the promotional exposure for up-and-coming alt classical composer Nico Muhly, I proposed the connection of his analog-like sound with an another historically analog brand - Polaroid.  Through a series of negotiations and concepts, I successfully positioned Nico Muhly as a worthy addition to Polaroid's upcoming "Made In Polaroid 50 | 50 | 50" campaign featuring some of the world's most recognizable creators utilizing Polaroid's new GL10 printer to express their art.

  • Established first ever partnership between Polaroid and Universal Music

  • arranged amplification across digital platforms of artist, Polaroid, Universal, and Free Arts NYC

  • Piece sold for $3000 to benefit Free Arts NYC

I operated as the shadow creator and designer for artwork commissioned by Polaroid for the "Made In Polaroid 50|50|50" art exhibit & benefit auction.

Medium: 3” x 4” ZINK Paper

Dimensions: 22” x 19”

The piece was meant to visualize the frenetic thought process behind the creation of Nico Muhly's music.

First exhibited at the "Polaroid Gallery" launch event for public viewing at the PHILLIPS De Pury Gallery (Chelsea, Manhattan) in August 2011.

Later exhibited at the PHILLIPS Gallery (450 Park Avenue) for auction in September 2011 and sponsored by Polaroid to promote their new product "GL10," alongside artwork created by other media & art personalities including James Franco, Tyra Banks, Phillip Lim, Kinsey, Olaf Heine, Tory Burch, Cynthia Rowley, Nick Walker, Fabrizio Ferri of the Strokes, Matthew Rolston, Haus of Gaga (Lady Gaga's creative team) and Brett Ratner.

In the end, my shadow piece produced under the name of Nico Muhly piece sold for a final listing price of $3,000 which went to Free Arts NYC.  As a result, Polaroid promoted the piece to their entire social media audience and website.  The partnership also later opened the door for other artists that I oversaw, including promotions I brokered for jazz artist Charles lloyd and award-winning violinist Nicola Benedetti.
